Master Key Systems in Fremont by Tri-City Locksmith
1Call. Your exact job is priced from the published range.
2Your tech texts a name and photo before arriving.
3Work done, invoice matches the number from the call.

Master key systems let a Fremont property manager carry one key while each tenant, teacher or shift lead carries a key that opens only their own doors. They run apartment buildings along Fremont Blvd in Irvington, medical suites near Washington Hospital, schools around Mission San Jose and logistics warehouses off I-880 in Newark. Tri-City Locksmith designs and installs these systems on existing hardware where possible, so the doors stay and only the pinning changes.

Planning starts with a walk-through or a floor plan. The tech maps who needs access to what, sketches the levels (grand master, master, sub-master, change keys), and chooses a keyway that will not be duplicated at a hardware store. Cylinders are pinned on the van, keys are stamped and logged, and a key schedule is handed over so you know which key opens which door. Expansion room is built in for future doors.

Master key work is quoted per project because door count, keyway choice and restricted-key options change the price. What stays fixed is the format: cylinders priced per unit, keys per copy, and design time listed once. The $89 service call covers the on-site survey and is credited against the job. The quote is written, itemized, and does not move once you approve it. Rekeying single doors later stays within the same system.

Locked out of our townhome at 9:40pm with the baby asleep inside. Quoted $144 on the call, which was the $109 lockout plus the evening $35, and that is what the card was charged. Got a text with the tech's name and a photo, he showed up in about 30 minutes and had the deadbolt open in five. No drama, no upsell.

FAQ

Master Key Systems: quick answers

How is this different from keying all the doors alike?+

Keyed-alike means one key opens everything and every holder has full access. A master system gives each person a key limited to their doors while you hold the master. Losing a tenant key does not compromise the building; only that door is rekeyed.

Can you build a master system on the locks already installed?+

Usually. Most commercial Schlage, Sargent, Yale and similar cylinders can be pinned into a system. Locks with mismatched keyways or worn cylinders get swapped, and the tech lists those in the quote so the count is clear.

What happens if a master key goes missing?+

The affected level is rekeyed, not the whole building. A well-designed system limits how many doors a single master reaches. Restricted keyways make copying much harder, which is why the tech recommends them for buildings with staff turnover.
