Motorcycle keys go missing at Mission Peak trailheads, Niles Canyon pullouts and apartment garages in Irvington. Tri-City Locksmith cuts keys for Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, BMW and most scooters, either from the ignition or from a code on the lock. Transponder-equipped bikes with immobilizers are programmed on site. The bike stays where it is, whether that is a Sundale carport or a Niles Canyon shoulder; no trailer, no dealership wait.

The tech confirms ownership with your ID and registration or title, then reads the ignition or seat lock to cut a key that fits every lock on the bike: ignition, gas cap, seat and helmet lock, if they were keyed alike from the factory. Bikes with the red master key system or HISS immobilizers take longer and may need the security module read. Fork lock function is tested before the tech leaves.

Motorcycle keys cost $110 to $260 with the service call credited. A plain mechanical key for an older Honda or a scooter starts near $110. Keys with transponder chips, and immobilizer bikes where no key exists, reach $260. If the ignition lock is damaged and has to be replaced, that is quoted as a separate line before the work. Weekend calls cost the same as weekdays; only the evening and overnight surcharges apply.

Locked out of our townhome at 9:40pm with the baby asleep inside. Quoted $144 on the call, which was the $109 lockout plus the evening $35, and that is what the card was charged. Got a text with the tech's name and a photo, he showed up in about 30 minutes and had the deadbolt open in five. No drama, no upsell.

FAQ

Motorcycle Keys: quick answers

Can you make a key for a Harley with no key at all?+

Yes. Most Harley ignitions and fork locks can be read on site and a key cut to code. Models with a fob-based security system need the fob paired or a PIN entered, which the tech walks through with you at the bike.

My Ducati says it needs the red key. Do you need it?+

Not always. The red master key makes programming quicker, but the tech can often read the immobilizer directly. If the module has to be reset, you hear the extra cost on the call before anyone drives out.

Do you do scooters and e-bikes?+

Gas scooters, yes, with the same pricing as small motorcycles. E-bikes with battery locks are hit or miss because many use proprietary cylinders. Describe the lock on the call and the tech will say whether it can be cut.
